I am listing 4 different fired porcelain ships, the Renaissance Galleon form,
a very limited series, each in a different color. These measure approx 9 1/2"
H x 9" L x 3" W, and were used in sculptural assemblages shown at The Lynden
Sculpture Gardens of Milwaukee, and Mount Mary University, Milwaukee (see
photos). They were made by the ceramic slip process in molds formed from an
old carnival chalkware ship used as prizes early to mid 20th C., these created
during a 3 month Art Residency in the Kohler Co. pottery factory, Kohler, WI.
Kohler is the maker of bathroom porcelain from sinks to toilets to decoration
to showers, etc.
This example is made of the Kohler porcelain, fired in the Kohler kilns at
Kohler WI. This and others were then painted with "automotive" paints for use
in large assemblage sculptures created between 2010 and 2020. Being retired
from use, they are now available to anyone looking for decorative elements in
bird baths, water features, or just used as Pop Art elements for interior
decor. This example has a black Kohler Co. shiny fired glaze that will stand up
to weather for an indefinite but long time. If you notice specks in the images
that is the spotting caused by rain during its last use, and I have already
washed the spot off. This black glazed surface will last as long as the piece
exists. Having been used in several assemblages, the underside/bottom may
reveal light no harm soiling. The weight is approx. 4 pounds. I am listing 3
more of these galleons in different colors as you see in the photos. Check out
my OTHER ITEMS/SELLER STORE.
